DSWD encourages program beneficiaries to get vaccinated vs COVID-19

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is encouraging its program beneficiaries to get inoculated against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The DSWD said as an expression of support to the upcoming National Vaccination Days in the country from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, it continues to strengthen its efforts and advocacy to encourage its program recipients to receive vaccines against COVID.

“In an effort to support this whole-of-nation and whole-of-society approach to COVID-19 vaccination, the Department continues to conduct information campaigns to encourage its beneficiaries, particularly beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) including 4Ps school-aged children, to get vaccinated against coronavirus,” it said in a statement on Thursday, Nov. 25.

During the three-day event dubbed as “Bayanihan, Bakunahan”, the government is seeking to vaccinate 15 million Filipinos nationwide to achieve population protection against COVID.

Covered by the simultaneous vaccination drive are the indigent sector, children aged 12 to 17 years old, and other unvaccinated individuals.

The DSWD said the roundtable discussions have already been conducted with 4Ps beneficiaries and parent leaders to guide them in arriving at their informed decisions about the COVID-19 vaccination. This was made possible through the partnership between the 4Ps-National Program Management Office and the Department of Health (DOH).

The Social Welfare department said the importance of vaccines among the 4Ps beneficiaries is being tackled in 4Ps’ regular Electronic/Offline Family Development Sessions (FDS).

“The DSWD continues to coordinate with and assist the DOH in cascading the necessary and relevant information regarding the vaccination program to help mitigate the wide-reaching effect of COVID-19 pandemic.”
