There are already 65.5 million voters in the May 2022 polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Thursday.
"As of today the projected number of voters for 2022 stands at 65.5 million," Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said in a press briefing in Manila.
"Throughout the entire registration process we added to the list of voters a total of 8,187,080," he added.
Jimenez said at the start of the registration they expected around 4 million who will turn 18-years old to register.
"As it turns out we got 4,094,614. These are the 18 to 21 years old who registered," he said.
He said the 18- year old numbered 171,033.
But the largest group of registrants in the 18 to 21 bracket, Jimenez said, are the 21-year old registrants.
"Coming up to a total of 750,578 for males and 796,891 females," he said.
Voter registration ended Oct. 30.
