Mayor Isko says ICC will be welcome to investigate in PH if he is elected president

The International Criminal Court (ICC) will be welcome to investigate in the Philippines should Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso win the presidency next year.

"Wala tayong itatago. Sokpa sila dito. Mag-imbestiga sila dito (We will not hide anything. They can enter here. They can investigate)," Domagoso said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo on Wednesday, Nov 24.
"Kapag may nagkasala, papanagutin natin sa mata ng batas (If someone is proven guilty, we will hold them accountable in the eyes of the law)," he said.
The ICC appealed to the tribunal to open an investigation into the alleged crimes against humanity in President Duterte's war on drugs last June.
In a statement, the ICC said the investigation will cover crimes allegedly committed between Nov. 1, 2011 and March 2019 “in the context of the so-called war on drugs campaign.”
Malacañang, meanwhile, has been repeatedly insisting that ICC had no jurisdiction to investigate the Duterte administration’s war against illegal drugs.
Domagoso also said he was willing to let the country be part of the ICC again as long as it will benefit the public.
"Kapag ako sasali sa agree-agreement, that includes ICC, ano ang kapakinabangan namin bilang Pilipino, bilang bansang Pilipinas? ((If I were to join agreements, including for the ICC, we have to ask first what benefit it would bring to Filipinos or to the Philippines?)" he pointed out.
"Hindi yung masali lang, yung mema? 'Yung pustu-pusturang wala namang magagawa," he added.
The Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer also expressed his disappointment over the lack of support that the country was getting from the international community following the issue in the West Philippine Sea.
