Cloudy skies with some rain showers will prevail over most parts of the country in the next 24 hours due to the prevalence of three weather systems affecting northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday morning, Nov. 24.

PAGASA warned that rains from the northeast monsoon, shear line, and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may cause flooding or landslides, especially in the event of moderate to at times heavy rains.

It said the northeast monsoon, locally called "amihan," may affect Batanes and Babuyan Islands, while the shear line, also called the tail-end of frontal system, may prevail over Isabela, Aurora, and mainland Cagayan.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may also persist in Caraga, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Leyte, and Southern Leyte due to the ITCZ.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy skies with isolated light monsoon rains may prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.

PAGASA said mostly fair weather conditions may persist across the rest of the country.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms or the ITCZ.

The State weather bureau, however, warned that severe thunderstorm activities may sometimes trigger flash floods or landslides.
