Fishermen, vendors, and mothers from the Tagalag Fishing Village underwent a culinary skills training program held by the Valenzuela City government last Nov.15 and 16.
The "Catch to Cash(C2C): A Farm-to-Table Culinary Training" was launched in partnership with the Department of Tourism- National Capital Region(DOT-NCR), to help the fisherfolks in Brgy.Tagalag turns its fresh produce into a sustainable source of income.

It also aims to promote aqua-business enterprises and open the village to livelihood and tourism opportunities amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The participants received training on food preservation methods, practical food preparation, and the basics of fish processing.
Mayor Rex Gatchalian said the livelihood training for the village is the key to manifest great impact among the residents toward an effective and sustainable community-based program that will continue in the city when it comes to transferability and replicability.
Aside from the training, active consultations were also held with the barangay and stakeholders to maintain the involvement of the community in planning and development.
The Tagalag Fishing Village was opened in February 2020, to provide livelihood opportunities, spaces for recreational activities for the residents, promote fish products, and boost tourism in the area.
The program was recognized as one of the "Ten Outstanding Local Governance Programs" during the Galing Pook Awards 2021 ceremony in October.
