Police colonel who attacked a police sarge in Bicol faces dismissal-IAS
The police colonel who attacked a police sergeant in Legazpi City could be dismissed from the service, the top official of the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) said on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
“The nature of the incident is grave misconduct,” said IAS Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo.
That nature of incident resulted in the permanent blindness of the left eye of Police Master Sgt. Ricky Brabante due to serious injuries when Police Col. Dulnoan Dinamling allegedly hit him with a broken glass on Nov. 12 inside Camp Simeon Ola in Legazpi City.
Camp Ola is home to the Police Regional Office 5 where Dinamling attended a birthday celebration of another ranking official of the regional police office.
The maximum penalty for an administrative case of grave offense is dismissal from the police service and Triambulo said that Dinamling may be slapped with that penalty.
“It is a serious offense,” said Triambulo.
Triambulo said he had already ordered a parallel investigation into the incident as national police chief Dionardo Carlos has already created a special investigation task force to look into the incident.
Dinamling was already sacked from his post as commander of the Aviation Security Group in Bicol region.
