A total of 8,716 indigent senior citizens in Pasay City will receive their social pension from the Department of Social Welfare and Development- National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR).
According to Marilyn Penazo, officer- in-charge of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), said 8,265 senior citizens will receive P3,000, and for the unclaimed 451, they will be getting P6,000 each.
Penazo said OSCA president, Normita Castillo, had told them to distribute the social pension to at least 1,230 senior citizens per day coming from the city’s 201 barangays.
She said the DSWD-NCR had given them 10 days to finish the distribution of the social pension to senior citizens.
She added that the 8716 selected senior citizens were those who were not receiving monthly pension from the Social Security System (SSS) and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the pension they will be receiving will be a big help in buying the medicines that they need.
