Five persons, including a former kagawad of a barangay in Taguig and a minor, were arrested during a buy-bust operation and patrolling in Pateros and Taguig on Nov. 22.
In Pateros, the police’s Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a buy-bust operation on P. Rosales Street in Bgy. Sta. Ana at about 9:20 p.m. that led to the arrest of the three suspects.

They were identified as Renato Sanga, 48, former kagawad of Brgy. Ligid-Tipas in Taguig; Imelda Soriano, 62, who was the target of the buy-bust; and Nenita Buenaventura, 59, both residents of Pateros. Soriano and Buenaventura are listed in the unified drug watchlist of the Pateros police.
During the operation, the police recovered six plastic sachets containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing seven grams with an estimated value of P47,600 and a digital weighing scale.
In Taguig, members of the police’s motorcycle patrol unit were conducting an anti-criminality operation on Road 16 in Bgy. New Lower Bicutan at about 2 p.m. when the saw two suspects in possession of illegal drugs.
They were identified as Norman Tria, 39, and a minor alias Mat, a child in conflict with the law, 17, both Taguig residents.
Recovered from them were two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about 3.5 grams with a value of P23,800.
All the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Southern Police District (SPD) Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis.
The suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
They are detained at the custodial facilities in Pateros and Taguig. Meanwhile, the rescued minor was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
SPD Director Brig Gen. Jimili Macaraeg commended the Pateros and Taguig police for the arrest of the suspects.
