DOST launches Science for the People book series


The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) launched on Tuesday, Nov. 23, the Science for the People (SFTP) Book series.

The SFTP series features how science, technology, and innovation benefits the Filipino people.

"The Science for the People Book series started as a pet project to aid our local vision of telling the stories of science and technology on a personal level," DOST Secretary Fortunato T. dela Peña said during the launch.

"This SFTP series is a testament of the dedicated work that has been done with each step taken leading to the road where science meets and serves the people. I hope that through these experiences be lessons of small triumphs, this will serve as a foundation of future successes that will benefit our succeeding generations," dela Peña added.

Authors of the book series include dela Peña, DOST Undersecretary Cristina L. Guevara, DOST Assistant Secretary Leah. J. Buendia, DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) Director Josette Biyo and Regional VIII Director Ernesto M. Granada, and the late Undersecretary Brenda Nazareth-Manzano.

Robina Gokongwei-Pe, president and chief executive officer of the Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc; and Maret Follosco-Bautista, president of CL Follosco Group of Companie are also included in the list of authors.
