The San Juan City local government announced on Monday, Nov. 22, that its active COVID-19 cases dropped to its lowest since the pandemic started in 2020.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said that as of Nov. 21, there are now only 29 active COVID-19 cases in the city, equivalent to a 97 percent decline from its previous high of 1,123 last Sept. 16.
"Let us continue to follow all health and safety protocols in order for the numbers to further go down," Zamora said.
The city government said that as of Nov. 18, San Juan City has already inoculated 211,387 residents with the first dose of the vaccine or 239.02 percent of its target population based on the 2020 Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA) Census, while 192,936 have been fully vaccinated, equivalent to 218.15 percent of its target population.
Metro Manila was placed under the less restrictive Alert Level 2 on Nov. 5 after a sharp decline in COVID-19 cases attributed to the high number of vaccinated individuals in the region.
