Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso, who was also once a scavenger himself, vowed to lift the poor people out of poverty if he wins the presidency.

Ang maibibigay ko sa inyo kapanatagan ng buhay maitawid lang kayo (If I am lucky, what I did in Manila for housing, I will do it all over the country. Only the dignity of the poor can be restored. All I can give you is the security of life),” Domagoso said during his meeting with around 300 garbage workers and junk shop operators in Quezon City last Saturday, Nov. 21.
The Manila mayor also promised to take care of the future of children living in informal settler communities by providing them with quality education.
Nangyari sa akin, pwede rin mangyari sa inyo (Those who are here, never give up. It's okay that we are poor now, but our children don't have to be poor too. So educate them, raise them well, take care of them because my success can also be the success of your children. It happened to me, it can happen to you)," Domagoso said.
So to all mothers, fathers. This is all I can tell you, life is hard. We are not blessed to have a parent with a golden spoon but that does not mean our life is insignificant)."
Domagoso had also earlier vowed to the residents of Payatas that he will pursue the construction of more mass housing projects if he wins in the upcoming elections.
Several mass housing projects were already built and some are still undergoing construction in the City of Manila including the Basecommunity; Tondominium 1 and 2; Binondominium 1 and 2; and the Pedro Gil and San Sebastian Residences.
