The Filipino fashion influencer graces the pages of Vogue Singapore
Vogue Singapore’s latest issue is packing major “Crazy Rich Asians” power. On its cover is ‘Eternals’ star Gemma Chan while inside it is Filipino fashion influencer Heart Evangelista.
In her interview with the magazine, the style icon shares a glimpse of her world, being Heart Evangelista on the screen, as Love Marie Ongpauco-Escudero in the art world, and everything in between. She opened up about her experience with burning tongue syndrome, which, later on, inspired her to spread the message of mental health on her platform to help people “who are suffering in silence” or are “embarrassed to seek help.”
“I talk about it whenever I have a bigger platform to express myself. And why would I not, when taking control of things like I did can save someone’s life?” she says.
Heart also brings to light the role of fashion and media in her life, and how it is opening up for all kinds of beauty, especially for the Asian community. “People now show their stretch marks, I mean that’s a lot,” she quips. “I also love how Asians are no longer on the sidelines when it comes to movies. And that’s why, as an artist or influencer. I think it’s really important that we still keep talking about it and make it the new normal.”
Speaking of style, Heart, for the feature, demonstrated her fashion uniform, which is about an all-white dressing attitude. Clad in pieces by global label Self-Portrait, styled by Kat Cruz-Villanueva, and finished off with Justin Soriano and Jeck Aguilar’s beauty and hair treatment, the “I Left My Heart In Sorsogon” star was captured by fashion photographer BJ Pascual for the magazine.
“I still have my bad days and good days, but this is me. This is who I am today and I’m proud of my flaws. Perfection is not of this world,” she ends.
