GSIS encourages pensioners to transact online despite looser COVID restrictions

An official of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) on Monday, Nov. 22, appealed to the public to continue to conduct transactions online, especially when complying with the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR) and applying for the commencement of pension.

GSIS Vismin Operations Group Vice President Vilma Fuentes said that it is important for pensioners to utilize the online transaction scheme to protect themselves against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"Kahit binaba na ng IATF ang Alert Level ng Pilipinas sa COVID-19, mahalaga pa rin sa atin ang health ng ating pensioners. Sa halip na mag transact sa mga GSIS Wireless Automated Processing Systems o GWAPS kasi ito ‘yung pamamaraan natin dati. O kaya naman mag file over the counter sa mga GSIS offices (Even if the IATF has lowered the Alert Levels in the Philippines COVID-19, the health of our pensioners is still important to us. "Hinihikayat ng pamunuan ng GSIS ang mga pensionado na tugunan at bigyang halaga ang pag-transact online upang maging ligtas sa banta ng kalusugan at para makaiwas sa COVID-19 (We in the GSIS office encourage pensioners to give importance to the online transactions to ensure their safety and health amidst the threat of COVID-19 pandemic)," she added.

The GSIS official also noted that senior citizens are especially vulnerable to severe illness, hence, the agency assures that they will be able to give alternative ways by means of technology in order for the pensioners to make transactions without the need of going outside their homes.

"Sa pamamagitan ng online methods pwedeng gawin ng ang mga transactions tulad ng APIR, application for commencement of pension, at ang paga-apply nila ng pag-avail ng loans kahit na anong oras at sa anumang araw nang may kaginhawaan (Through online methods, our pensioners can create transactions like APIR, application for commencement of pension, and avaling of loans at any hour and day with ease)," GSIS explained.

The government-owned and controlled corporation said that their priority is their pensioner’s safety, health, and comfort amid the pandemic. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
