Go says he’d choose Sara as his VP, if he has a choice

Presidential aspirant Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Monday said he would pick Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as his vice president if he is given the chance.

But Go, in a chance interview in General Santos City, said he has to abide by his political party’s decision.

“Sa ngayon wala akong vice president. Sino ba naman ang pipiliin kong VP? Syempre, anak ng boss ko (For now, I don’t have a vice president. Who should I choose as VP? Of course, the child of my boss),” Go said, referring to his long-time boss President Duterte.

“Siya ang closest to our heart. Kung ako ang papipiliin, pero syempre may partido tayo na dapat sundin (She is closest to our heart. If I can choose, but of course, we have a party policy that we need to follow),” he stressed.

Go had earlier filed his candidacy as vice president under the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban). He later withdrew his candidacy and ran for president as a substitute candidate under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS).

Duterte-Carpio, on the other hand, filed her candidacy as vice president under the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

She was eventually adopted by the political party of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), and agreed to be Marcos’ running mate in the upcoming May 2022 elections.
