CDC, Scottubo sign deal to open specialty resto in Clark Freeport Zone

Clark Development Corporation (CDC) and local firm Scottubo Corporation have signed a deal to set up a P26.9-million specialty restaurant within the Clark Freeport Zone.

In a statement, CDC said the proposed concept of the restaurant project will have a brewery, distillery, and a pub and is expected to bring more job opportunities during and after its construction.

Dubbed as “Rhummy”, the restaurant will showcase Filipino cuisine using local and organic produce and products in partnership with local farmers and food organizations such as Altertrade Philippines Inc.

Aside from this, the restaurant will also serve their own local concept of beer and assorted imported craft beers and spirits.

‘Rhummy’ will be distilling a range of craft spirits, using produce sourced directly from Filipino farmers that will show the innovative culture of Philippine craft brewers.

It is also seen to boost tourism in Clark once operational, attracting both domestic and foreign nationals, foreign expats, workers, and residents here.

Meanwhile, CDC recently opened the ‘Ayta Na’ market, an agriculture-souvenir market especially made for Aeta vendors within the Freeport.

Following its soft opening in October, a total of 79 individuals from the Aeta Vendors Association have already been selling local products at a designated area provided by the CDC.

During the opening ceremony held last week, CDC President and CEO Manuel R. Gaerlan mentioned that the market will help in boosting local tourism in Clark.

Various products available at the Ayta Na market include fresh produce, seafoods, meat products, souvenir items, and plants that came from direct suppliers, sold at lower prices.

Meanwhile, Manila Water Foundation (MWF), one of the sponsors of the project, has put up a handwashing facility within the vicinity of the market.

Other sponsors who supported the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative are Mandasig Farmers Association, Inc., Bambang Multipurpose Cooperative, Tabon San Jose Farmers Association, Inc., Paroba Livelihood and Business Association, and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Porac.

The Department of Agriculture (DA), MWF, Clark Water Corporation, Globe Telecom, and Clark Casino Foundation also supported the said initiative.

The Ayta Na market is open daily with its wet market section open on Friday to Sunday, and plant section open from Monday to Sunday, including holidays.
