BTS finally bags 'Artist of the Year'

Without a doubt, every award show where BTS is part of keeps those of the original ARMYs (fans of the internationally known K-Pop performers, BTS) on the edge of their seats—whatever time zone they’re in.

Racism, clout-chasing, and even “event click-baiting” have been the fear of fans ever since these seven Korean men step foot into the western entertainment industry.

Today, BTS came into the American Music Awards in full fashion, nominated for pop group and artist of the year, and favorite pop song for their recent hit single, “Butter.”

Group leader, RM, says that they “go full-circle” tonight after two years of not being able to join physically in the said awards show in the US. They are glad that everything is slowly going back to normal, and they’re so happy to be “unmasked” for this event with everyone.

The group proudly wins Top Pop Group of the year, Favorite Pop Song of the year, and the much-awaited Artist of the Year.

This is another feat for Korean Pop. Their three victories might be small awards for many, but this is another step toward Asian inclusivity in the western entertainment industry. Congratulations to BTS and to all the ARMYs in the Philippines and around the world!
