PH Red Cross commemorates Day of Remembrance for Road Victims

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC), the country’s premier humanitarian organization, commemorated the 26th anniversary of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Victims (WDoR), on Sunday, Nov. 21.
The day is observed to remember the millions of lives lost due to road traffic around the world.
This year's theme, "Remember, Support, Act," marks the start of a new decade of action for road safety, the PRC said.
"PRC reminds all that WDoR puts the spotlight on the reduction of traffic speeds, which have the potential to prevent many deaths and serious injuries, particularly the pedestrians and all other vulnerable road users," the organization said in a statement.
Moreover, PRC pushes for the provision of platforms for road victims as well as their families.
These will help remember all people killed and seriously injured on the road, acknowledge the crucial tasks of emergency services, highlight the importance of legal response to culpable road deaths and injuries, advocate support for victims and their families, and promote evidence-based actions to further prevent road traffic deaths or injuries.
