DOH: Over 6K medical frontliners get COVID-19 vaccine booster doses

More than 6,000 healthcare workers nationwide have already received their coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine booster shots.
"As of Nov. 18, naka 6,457 tayo sa buong Pilipinas (we have 6,457 in the entire Philippines)," said DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje during an interview over radio DZBB on Saturday, Nov. 20.
Cabotaje said that over 2,800 healthcare workers in Metro Manila have already received their booster shots.
The DOH official said they are still collecting the data from other regions.
Cabotaje, meanwhile, emphasized the importance of getting a booster shot.
“You need a booster kasi bumababa na yung mga immunity at kailangan pasiglahin na uli, you need to boost it para mas malakas yung panglaban ng katawan sa mga darating na sakit (You need a booster because the immunity is waning and you need to revitalize it, you need to boost it so that the body's resistance is stronger against such disease),” she said.
During the Laging Handa press briefing, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said they will soon release the booster shot guidelines for senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals.
“Itong ating guidelines for senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals ...ating lang pong fina-finalize (The guidelines for our senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals ... we are just finalizing the),” she said.
“We will be issuing guidelines in the coming days for the information of the public,” she added.
