Some call it street art, others graffiti, but either way, Vice President Leni Robredo’s supporters have turned to painting murals to let her know they are with her in her fight for the presidency.

Artist Dyza Cabagnot painted the image of Robredo depicting her as “Babaylan” on a long blank wall in front of a house in Maribojoc, Bohol.
The mural, dubbed as “Leni The Babaylan,” was painted with other Babaylan women through the help of various Robredo volunteers and supporters in the province.
In a Facebook post, Cabagnot explained her artwork was about Babaylan women, who in pre-colonial times served as “intermediaries between spiritual and material worlds in their communities".
“Their leadership roles are multi-fold: warrior, healer, priestess and sage," she said, adding Babaylans also listen to the community and lead through a deep understanding of the inter-connectedness of all life forms.
“To this day, many Babaylans remain politically active in advocacy, activism and working for justice in their communities,” she noted.
Since Robredo announced her presidential bid last month, several photos have circulated on social media showing her volunteers painting homes, electricity posts, and business establishments across the country in pink, her campaign color.
Apart from these, murals of the aspiring president on the facade or walls of some areas have sprouted like mushrooms.
In Camarines Sur, the Artists4Leni, along with other local artists, unveiled a mural in Poblacion, Libmanan town in support of Robredo’s candidacy.

The artwork, dubbed as “Kurit nin Paglaom,” features the image and name of the Vice President in pink with a background of a man carrying a child while the sun is rising.
Cabagnot urged voters to choose a leader who embodies the spirit of pre-colonial Babaylans and someone who has proven her competence, sincerity, and commitment to Filipinos.
“Kung Babaylan ang lider natin dati, Babae lamang din ang ating dapat gawing presidente sa 2022 (If Babaylan is our past leader, we should make a female president in 2022). Maria Leonor Gerona-Robredo — our bise-presidente (vice president), and our Busy-Presidente (busy president),” the artist said.
