The Quezon City government on Tuesday warned the public against persons misrepresenting themselves as city officials to solicit money and merchandise.
"It has once again come to the attention of the Office of the City Mayor and the Quezon City Local Government that there are unscrupulous individuals misrepresenting themselves as city officials -- at times even impersonating actual persons -- to solicit money and/or other merchandise," it said in a statement.
The said modus is being made through voice calls, messages, emails,by those claiming to be officials of the city government.
"The Office of the City Mayor under Mayor Joy Belmonte and the Departments of the Quezon City Local Government have never, and will never, directly solicit funds or other valuable merchandise from the public," it said.
"This also serves as a stern warning to all those involved in these scams: the Office of the City Mayor and the Quezon City Police Department (QCDPD) will employ all investigation, enforcement, and legal resources to ensure that any and all perpetrators of this and other fraudulent activities are caught and brought to justice," it added.
Individuals who received such messages may report it to the city's 122 hotline.
