A house-to-house check for possible symptoms of COVID-19 was conducted by the Pasay City government to curb the spread of the disease.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) under the supervision of Miko Llorca recorded 102 cases of COVID-19 on Nov. 1.
Rubiano said Llorca and his team were conducting house-to-house symptoms check on households with reported COVID-19 cases.
Llorca, in a telephone interview, said aside from the conduct of house-to- house symptoms check, they are also conducting mass testing in areas or barangays with high COVID-19 cases.
He said contact tracing was also conducted.
The CESU head said it employs a different case finding strategy where instead of only 10 houses around the area with COVID-19 case, they are also checking about 40 houses around those with positive cases.
Llorca said the strategy helped in bringing down COVID-19 cases in the city.
Records showed that the city recorded on Nov. 1 a total of 102 active cases with four new cases.
Rubiano urged the remaining city residents who have not been vaccinated to get the jab.
She said the city government already deployed a total of 518,646 vaccines against COVID-19.
