The Department of Health (DOH) said it is expecting that all the eligible adult population in Metro Manila will be vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by December.

"We are expecting this November makamit na nila iyong 18 years old and above....Hopefully, November, December makakamit na natin iyong napakataas, almost 100 percent na target ay ma-achieved dito sa NCR (We are expecting that by November they will achieve almost 100 percent vaccine coverage for 18 years old and above... Hopefully, November, December almost 100 percent of our target will be achieved here in NCR)," said DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

At least 8.5 million individuals in Metro Manila were already fully vaccinated, which is equivalent to 87 percent of the 9.7 million eligible population in the area, as shown in the data presented by Cabotaje during a public briefing.

Meanwhile, a total of 59,316,764 vaccine doses were administered nationwide since the COVID-19 vaccination started last March.

The figure includes 31,955,891 doses administered as first shots and 27,360,873 as second doses, said Cabotaje.

Also, since the start of pediatric vaccination last Oct. 15, a total of 37,964 adolescents aged 12 to 17 with comorbidities were vaccinated.

The country's average daily jab rate stood at 500,00 for the past week, said Cabotaje.

"We need to work double time. Kailangan natin all hands-on deck, kailangan tulong-tulong tayong lahat para ma-meet po iyong one million (We need to work double time. We need all hands-on deck, we all need to cooperate to meet the one million jabs per day)," she said.
