The Archdiocese of Lipa in Batangas will launch a 10-day observance to mark World Day of the Poor on Nov. 14.

Lipa Archdiocesan Social Action (LASAC) Director Rev. Fr.Jayson T. Siapco said, the 10-day observance will be held from Nov. 14 to 24.
"At this time of pandemic, many were fortunate to survive the coronavirus while at the same time, many also suffered including those who lost their jobs and who continue to be jobless to this day. Many remain sick. Many poor families have become poorer. We at the Archdiocese of Lipa remember those who suffered most at this time of the pandemic from Nov. 14 to 24 in commemoration of World Day of the Poor,” the priest said over Radio Veritas.
“With our Formation Series which may be viewed via the official Facebook Page of LASAC every Wednesday, we will be knocking on the doors of the poor to provide them with some assistance,” Fr. Siapco added.
The parishes under the jurisdiction of the archdiocese will set up Kindness Stations on Nov. 14. On Nov. 24, the archdiocese will observe Red Wednesday to launch the Care-Avan which will lead the distribution of the assistance to the poor and the needy.
Fr. Siapco, meanwhile, is calling on kind-hearted individuals to donate for the project. LASAC hopes to raise around P12 million to finance the program.
“We are hoping to raise P12 million for this project to assist the poor and needy who are part of our archdiocese. We are appealing to the business sectors in the province of Batangas for donations,” Fr. Siapco said.
Pope Francis launched the World day of the Poor in 2016. This year’s theme is “The poor will always have you.”
