San Juan City once again saw a sharp decline in the number of active COVID-19 cases, Mayor Francis Zamora said on Friday, Nov. 19.
He said the city recorded 30 active COVID-19 cases, 14,884 recoveries, and 326 deaths, as of Nov. 18.
“I enjoin each and every San Juaneño and Filipino to continue following all health and safety protocols for the numbers to further go down especially now that Metro Manila is already under Alert Level 2,” Zamora said.
The city government said that as of Nov. 18, San Juan City has already inoculated 211,387 residents with the first dose of the vaccine or 239.02 percent of its target population based on 2020 Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA) Census, while 192,936 have been fully vaccinated, equivalent to 218.15 percent of its target population.
Metro Manila was placed under Alert Level 2 on Nov. 5 after a sharp decline in COVID-19 cases attributed to the high number of vaccinated individuals in the region.
Under Alert Level 2, there are no age-based mobility restrictions in Metro Manila. It also allows for an increased capacity for businesses and activities such as restaurant dine-in, beauty salons and the like, and religious activities, among others.
