PCG welcomes Davaoeña as first female one-star general from line officers' rank
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will soon have its first female commodore from its rank of general line officers following the recent promotion of a Davaoeña personnel.
CG Commodore Mitzie Silva-Campo will take oath next week before Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugarde following a rank promotion from President Duterte.
Aside from being the first female general line officer to be promoted as commodore, she is also the first female flag rank officer from the Davao region and the entire Mindanao.

According to PCG, Silva-Campo currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Maritime Security Services. She hails from Digos City in Davao del Sur and graduated on top of her class under the Coast Guard Officers Course Class-1 "C" (Makagitaw) in 2002.
She acquired a master's degree in Maritime Law and Policy from the World Maritime University (WMU) Malmö in Sweden in May 2009.
Silva-Campo also completed her Juris Doctor Degree and Bachelor of Arts major in English with education units at Cor Jesu College, Inc. in Digos, Davao del Sur.
She took up various maritime-related training and courses such as a comprehensive course on International Maritime Conventions and Ship Safety Inspection at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Training Institute in Yokohama, Japan in 2011.
From March 2016 to June 2019, Silva-Campo represented the country in the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery Against Ships in Asia – Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP - ISC), a government international organization based in Singapore.
Prior to becoming a PCG deputy chief, she was also designated as a commander of the Coast Guard Internal Audit Service and deputy chief of coast guard staff for education and training.
Silva-Campo will join other commodores, namely Ramon S. Lopez, Joeven L. Fabul and Edgar L. Ybañez, in the oath-taking ceremony.
