LOOK: A 60-foot portrait of VP Leni Robredo is being made in Quezon City

Larger than life?

After announcing her presidential bid for the 2022 Elections, Vice President Leni Robredo has been the center of many artworks produced by Filipino creatives. But this upcoming mega portrait of her might take the cake for its size alone. Muralist A.G. Saño shares on Instagram a glimpse of his latest work, expressing his support to the presidential aspirant.

“Street artists and mountaineers unite in cĺimbing this big firewall along Katipunan C5 Road to paint a 60-foot portrait of an amazing and selfless woman,” the artist posted.

Throughout his career, Saño has been known for using his craft to ignite change and action in the community. Early this November, together with other volunteers, artists, and youth groups, he created a mural on a wall in Marikina Riverbanks. Playing with the theme Pangarap Hindi Panaginip Activism for Climate Justice, the mural is part of the global Climate Justice and Liability campaign, “which seeks to hold governments and corporations accountable for human rights harms arising from the impacts of climate change,” according to OeconoMedia.

Last year, he also went viral on social media with his mural featuring Darna wearing a scrub suit, face mask, a stethoscope, and the country’s flag as a cape—a tribute to healthcare frontliners all over the country.
