ILOILO CITY — Those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can now publicly consume alcoholic beverages in the city and province of Iloilo.
Both Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas and Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. announced Thursday, November 18, that it is no longer prohibited as stipulated under Alert Level 2 guidelines set by the national government’s Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19.
“We will allow as long as the individual is fully vaccinated,” Treñas said.
“Those who want to drink in restaurants or bars must show their vaccination cards. Minimum health protocols must also be followed,” added Defensor.
This new development came as restrictions were eased in Iloilo City and Iloilo province, which comprises of 42 towns and the component city of Passi.
This also came as the nightlife resumed in Iloilo City, the regional capital last Tuesday night. At that time, bars and resto-bars were allowed to open. But supposedly, serving of beer and alcoholic beverages were not allowed.
While public drinking is allowed, there are also differences in the city and province of Iloilo. There is no more curfew in Iloilo City while there is still a 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew in the towns of Iloilo province.
