There are currently four pending petitions against presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. before the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
In an online press briefing on Thursday, Nov. 18, Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said the petitions are for the cancellation of his certificate of candidacy, disqualification and declaration as nuisance.
He said the two petitions seeking to cancel his COC were filed by Buenafe, Lim et al and Tiburcio Villamor Marcos while the petition for disqualification was filed by Bonifacio Ilagan et al.
The petition to declare Marcos as nuisance, on the other hand, was filed by a certain Danilo Lihaylihay.
It was earlier this month when several groups and personalities led by Fr. Christopher Buenafe submitted a petition with the poll body seeking to cancel or deny the COC of Marcos Jr. over supposed "false material representation" stemming from a 1995 tax case.
On Nov. 8, a petition-in-intervention was also filed before the Comelec seeking to supplement the earlier petition to cancel the COC of Marcos Jr.
The petition for disqualification was filed Nov. 17.
It was not clear when the two other petitions were filed.
The Comelec has already set the preliminary conference on the petition of Buenafe et al on Nov. 26.
