Former Vice President and senatorial aspirant Jejomar Binay urged the government not to concentrate its vaccination drive on the National Capital Region (NCR) and expand it instead to the provinces.
In a press statement, Binay said that requests for more vaccines made by officials outside the NCR haven’t been fulfilled by the government.
“Mababa pa rin ang vaccination rate sa maraming lugar. At ang reklamo ng maraming local officials, hindi sila nabibigyan ng sapat na bakuna kahit ilang beses na silang nag-request sa national government (Vaccination rates are still low in many places. Many local officials are complaining that they have not been given enough vaccines even after several requests to the national government),” said Binay.
According to the Department of Health, only the NCR is close to hitting the target population of 70 percent at 91.10 percent of the target as of Nov. 10.
Meanwhile, none of the other regions has surpassed 50 percent of their respective target populations.
