Sean Anthony excited to team up with fellow Fil-Canadian Matthew Wright

Sean Anthony couldn’t wait to team up with fellow Fil-Canadian Matthew Wright after being traded to Phoenix Super LPG almost two weeks ago.

The hardworking forward, who was traded from NorthPort in exchange for Vic Manuel, said the possibilities are endless now that he is teammates with Wright, regarded as one of the PBA’s best scorers.

“It’s gonna be exciting to play with him,” Anthony said in the CNN Philippines program Sports Desk. “He’s such a deadly player and I think we can complement each other in so many ways.

“It’s just exciting to set screens for him because he’s gonna draw so much attention that I can find something off of that or just free him up for some shots so I think it’s gonna be a great combo,” he added.

Anthony will be tasked to help the Fuel Masters recover from a 4-7 record in the Philippine Cup and missing the quarterfinals after losing to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in a playoff for the No. 8 seed.

Phoenix has plenty of talent aside from Wright in Jason Perkins, who Anthony knows a lot since they have a similar trainer who works on their individual skills.

Coach Topex Robinson also has a mix of youngsters like Larry Muyang, Aljun Melecio and Nick Demusis and the veteran core of Justin Chua, RJ Jazul, Chris Banchero, RR Garcia and Jake Pascual.

The 6-foot-4 Anthony is hoping to provide the same intangibles that enabled to him have four good years with NorthPort where he was able to receive Mythical First Team and Defensive Player of the Year honors.

“I think they (Phoenix) want some energy, a guy who could move the ball and some kind of an all-around and utility player as well,” he said.

“I feel like I’m the guy who could fill those gaps that they want. And there’s so much talent on this team and I just looking forward to playing with them,” added Anthony.
