The Boses, Opinyon, Siyasat, at Siyensya para sa Pilipinas (BOSES Pilipinas) launched on Wednesday, Nov. 17, an online fake news quiz in line with its efforts to build an empowered and well-informed generation of Filipino voters.
Titled "What the Fake?!: Ang Fake News Challenge ng Bayan." is the first university-based web application that aims to serve as a misinformation diagnostic tool among voting-age Filipinos, in preparation for the 2022 elections.
"By voting age Filipino citizens, this means that this web app is not limited to young people but to all Filipinos qualified to vote who want to check how vulnerable they are to fake news," BOSES Pilipinas Convenor Imelda Deinla said in Filipino during a virtual forum hosted by Ateneo School of Government.
"The very heart of What the Fake?! is to help other fight misinformation and disinformation and at the same time, to prepare them for the 2022 elections by testing if their judgment in identifying fake news from real news is impaired or not," Deinla added.
