FAKE? Claudine Barretto insists on authenticity of Rico Yan's love letter

"Double infinity (person with folded hands emoji) RYCB & CLAUDINIANS THIS IS FOR ALL OF U (smiley and heart emojis)."

This is what actress Claudine Barretto wrote as caption of a photo she posted on Instagram recently.

She claimed it is a handwritten letter to her by her late lover Rico Yan.

The numbers "09798" was written on the upper rightmost of the paper, seemingly indicating the date September 7, 1998.

The message read: “Hunny, Just wanted you to know that you are the Best thing that has happened in my life. You Are My Life! While i watch you sleep i cant believe your mine. Thank You For Being my ROCK! and Hunny “YOU ROCK” I Love You Very Much Hunny.”

While many got giddy about it, including celebrities like Dianne Medina, Mariel Padilla, Gladys Reyes, and Neri Miranda, some netizens questioned the authenticity of the letter.

"1998 pa ang sulat pero mukhang bago pa din ang papel at parang ngayon lang isinulat. Hindi naluma," one commented.

"Kita ko lang po na same penmanship nung letter na binigay mo for your mam and it's different from rico's. and the paper looks new when it's been 19yrs since he passed away. No hate po, i am a big fan of ur loveteam but just wanna ask if did write this and pinost or cinopy nyo lng. Much love po @claubarretto," another added.

But Claudine pointed out it's not her penmanship.

She insisted it was really from Rico.

One said: "Aww, did RY wrote this po ba? (heart emoji)."

Claudine replied, "yes po."

Another wrote: "@claubarretto it is your penmanship po miss clau i think but did he somehow wrote or said this to you?? (crying face emoji)."

Claudine answered: "my penmanship po is ASSUPTION PENMANSHIP PO (heart emojis)."
