BTS flies to US for American Music Awards, James Corden show, concert


K-pop superstars BTS left for Los Angeles today (Nov. 17) for a slew of performances including their first in-person concert in two years.

BTS arrived at Incheon International Airport past noon on Nov. 17 for their flight. Fans were there to get a glimpse of the group while Korean media outlets covered the event.

The hashtag #haveasafeflightBTS trended on Twitter as fans wished BTS a safe flight to the US.

“I will go and come back. To all the test takers tomorrow, fighting!” according to a post by RM on BTS’ Twitter account.

In the US, BTS will have a busy schedule ranging from performances, TV appearance and concert.

BTS will perform at the 2021 American Music Awards (AMAs), which will be held at 8 p.m. EST/PST on Nov. 21 (9 a.m. on Nov. 22 in the Philippines). They will hold the world premiere performance of “Butter” with Megan Thee Stallion.

They are nominated for three awards at the AMAs: Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song. Last year, they won Favorite Social Artist and Favorite Duo or Group-Pop/Rock.

For Artist of the Year, BTS are competing against Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.

For Favorite Pop Duo or Group category, the nominees are BTS, AJR, Glass Animals, Maroon 5 and Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak).

BTS’ “Butter” is nominated for Favorite Pop Song together with Doja Cat ft. SZA’a “Kiss Me More,” Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” and The Weeknd & Ariana Grande’s “Save Your Tears (Remix).”

After this, BTS will be appearing on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in the Nov. 23 episode.

“They will appear on our Tuesday, 11/23 episode — which *technically* airs at 12:37am on Wednesday, 11/24. So, for our friends in KST, it will air at 11/24 at 2:37pm. See you soon!” the show posted on Twitter.

Next, BTS will hold their much-awaited “BTS Permission to Dance on Stage-LA” concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Nov. 27 and 28, and Dec. 1 and 2. This will be their first in-person concert in two years.

A day after their last concert, BTS will perform at the “Jingle Ball” tour in Los Angeles to be held on Dec. 3 at The Forum in Inglewood.
