'Ridiculous and unacceptable': Bree Jonson's ma on dismissal of drug case vs Julian Ongpin
DAVAO CITY — "What happened to the war on drugs?"
This was the short caption that accompanied the Facebook post of Dr. Sally Jonson, the mother of late visual artist Breanna "Bree" Jonson after she shared an online news article about the La Union court's dismissal of the case of possession of illegal drugs against Julian Roberto S. Ongpin on Monday, Nov. 15.
The post was also accompanied with the words: "Selective justice!!!"
The San Fernando City regional trial court (RTC) dismissed the illegal possession of dangerous drugs case filed against the son of former Trade and Industry Minister and billionaire businessman, Roberto V. Ongpin.

"Di ko puede pangunahan ang DOJ prosec on their next move. This is the fight on drugs of the Republic of the Phils against Julian Ongpin in violating Sec 11 of RA 9165," Jonson told the media.
"The decision was ridiculous/ absurd and unacceptable lalo na Julian Ongpin violated Sec 15 of RA 9165 since he tested positive for drugs (cocaine) and this was not included in PNPs charges, only the Sec 11, again because of jurisprudence excuse," she added.
Julian was charged with illegal possession of 12.6 grams of cocaine that was allegedly recovered inside a San Juan, La Union hotel room where he and Bree Jonson checked in last Sept. 17.
Jonson said "because of the incompetency of PNP in handling drug cases by not complying to Sec 21 of RA 9165 the case was dismissed. PNP's legal excuse - di pa kasi sila nakakakita ng cocaine di daw nila alam na drugs yun."
She also lamented that the court was "so relaxed" in handling the case of Julian.
"It is obvious that the court was so relaxed with Julian Ongpin's drug case. Pag mahirap pa yan, kulong na agad," she added.
"Kelangan yata yakap yakap ni Julian ang drugs para masabing possession of illegal drugs. Julian and the people who defended his crimes will not escape the Divine Justice," Joson added.
