DAVAO CITY — Incumbent Davao de Oro Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy withdrew his certificate of candidacy (COC) for reelection as governor on Monday, Nov. 15 at the COMELEC provincial office.
The governor, who was running under Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), is replaced by his father Senior Board Member Arturo "Chiongkee" Uy who was the second elected governor of Davao de Oro, formerly known as Compostela Valley Province.

Board Member Uy served as governor of the province from 2007 to 2016. Meanwhile, his son, the incumbent governor, succeeded him and became the youngest governor of the province at 31 years old.
Board Member Uy is the lead convenor of the "Run Sara Run" movement.
