Palace cites Berroya for 'big role' in upgrading railway sector


Malacañang condoled on Monday, Nov. 15 with the family of the late Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Administrator Reynaldo Berroya.

"Nakikiramay po kami sa pagyao ni Administrator Reynaldo Berroya (We send our condolences over the passing of LRTA Administrator Reynaldo Berroya)," Harry Roque said in his final press conference as Presidential spokesperson.

"Bilang LRTA administrator, malaki ang kanyang ginampanang papel para mas mapabuti ang serbisyo ng ating railway sector (As LRTA administrator, he played a big role in improving the services of the railway sector). Rest in peace, General Rey," Roque said.

Berroya, 74, passed away earlier Monday, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade announced. Tugade made no mention of the cause of death.

The former police general also previously served as Transportation undersecretary and assistant secretary.

The LRTA is under the auspices of the DOTr.
