Mayor Vico gives connectivity allowance to more than 3,000 Pasig City students

The Pasig City local government announced on Sunday, Nov. 14, the distribution of cash cards for its Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) students containing their connectivity allowance that will help them in their online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his Facebook post, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said that each of the more than 3,000 students of PLP received connectivity allowance worth P500 per month which is being distributed per semester for a total of P2,500.

Sotto said that by this week, students may withdraw their first P2,500 and wait for further announcement.

The mayor also extended his gratitude to the staff of PLP and Landbank for working on Sunday for the release of the connectivity allowance.

Since the pandemic started in 2020, the country shifted to blended learning to curb the spread of the virus among learners. Blended learning (also known as hybrid learning) is a method of teaching that integrates technology and digital media with traditional instructor-led classroom activities.

On Monday, Nov. 15, the Department of Education (DepEd) said 100 public schools took part in the pilot run of limited face-to-face classes. These schools are from areas that are classified as low-risk for COVID-19 by the Department of Health (DOH).

The DepEd added that 20 private schools will start conducting face-to-face classes beginning on Nov. 22.
