Presidential aspirant and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. is leading the way in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) Presidential survey conducted October 20 to 23.
The latest Presidential preference survey released by the social research firm SWS showed Marcos leading all the Presidential aspirants. The survey was commissioned by Stratbase ADR Institute Inc.
The former lawmaker got 47 percent of the votes, while Vice-President Leni Robredo was a far second with 18 percent. Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno checked in at third place with 13 percent. Getting the other votes were Senators Manny Pacquiao (9%), Panfilo “Ping” Lacson (5%) and Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa (5%), respectively.
The SWS did not reveal the number of respondents who participated in the survey. It also showed that 3 percent are still ‘undecided’ on who to vote for as President in next year’s national elections.
Meanwhile, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III topped the vice-presidential survey with 44 percent. Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio was at second place with 25 percent. Tied for third place are Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and Dr. Willie Ong both with 13 percent followed by Buhay Partylist Rep. Jose “Lito” Atienza with 3 percent.
Around two percent were still ‘undecided’ on who to vote for as Vice-President.
The SWS conducted the survey more than three weeks before Duterte-Carpio formally submitted her candidacy as vice president, and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go filed his candidacy as President last Saturday, Nov. 13.
Meanwhile, Marcos’ chief of staff and spokesperson, lawyer Vic Rodriguez said that the former senator remains humble and focused on creating plans to help the Filipino people emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic despite leading recent surveys.
“Unifying presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos is humbled by the very encouraging results showing him lead survey after survey but has remained focused on the delicate task ahead of how to navigate and get us all out of this crisis brought by the pandemic when given the chance to lead the country in 2022,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez also thanked Marcos’ supporters for their continuing trust and called on Filipinos to reject gutter politics and put an end to the culture of character assassination.
“Let us instead elevate the level of political discourse and talk about nation building,” added Rodriguez.
“It is clear to Bongbong Marcos that this election is all about the future, the future of every Filipino and the future of our nation.” (Melvin Sarangay)
