Malayan Colleges in Mindanao states readiness in campus reopening, blended learning
DAVAO CITY – The Malayan Colleges Mindanao (MCM), A Mapúa School, announced recently that it is making preparations for the reopening of its campus soon.
In a statement on Sunday, November 14, the MCM said the limited face-to-face classes would commence "later this year or early next year."
Engr. Alejandro H. Ballado, Vice President for Academic Affairs at MCM said they are currently in the process of adjusting their physical plant and facilities "to follow safety and health protocols to comply with CHED, DepEd, and DOH’s Joint Memorandum Circulars.”
Based on the CHED-DOH’s JMC 2021-001, a joint memorandum circular released by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) with the Department of Health (DOH), the Engineering, HRM, Tourism, and Marine Transportation programs have been approved to hold limited face-to-face classes. Meanwhile, DepEd-DOH's JMC No. 001 s. 2021 also set the launching of pilot face to face classes on November 15.
In line with the preparation for the campus's reopening, the college installed acrylic barriers inside classrooms and laboratories. The school also arranged open windows and fan for sustained airflow with an anemometer to ensure proper ventilation.
The MCM will also implement blended learning utilizing both online and limited face-to-face set-up for lectures.
Prior to the actual campus reopening, the school administration ensured that they will "conduct consultations with parents, students, faculty, non-teaching personnel, and LGU to address any concerns."
"Once the school has completed the retrofitting of the campus and the relevant adjustments, the school will conduct a self-assessment and eventually submit its application to CHED and DepEd Region XI offices for the necessary evaluation and approval,” Ballado added.
