Iloilo City hospital construction gets additional P200-million funding


ILOILO CITY — Senator Juan Miguel “Migs” Zubiri has pledged a funding of P200 million for the modular hospital currently being constructed by the Iloilo City Government.

“We conducted a site inspection on our Iloilo City Hospital to see its ongoing developments,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas in a statement.

The construction of the modular hospital is currently implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as one of the projects that is designed to boost the COVID-19 responses. The modular hospital will have at least 44 beds.

Zubiri also turned over 400 tents to the Iloilo Provincial Government led by Governor Arthur Defensor Jr.

The senator whose family has ties in Iloilo also pledged to facilitate with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to allocate more funding for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced or Disadvantaged Workers Program (TUPAD), especially for those who livelihood have been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zubiri had talks with the mayors of 42 towns and the component city of Passi during his November 12 visit.
