Dominant Boom Esports rules Dota 2 BTS Pro Series Season 9

Boom Esports led by Filipino Dota 2 stars Timothy “Tims” Randrup and Gabriel "skem" Ong ruled the Dota 2 BTS Pro Series Southeast Asia Season 9 in a dominant fashion on Sunday, Nov. 14.

The Indonesia-based squad was crowned as champions following its 3-0 sweep of Filipino representative Polaris Esports in the best-of-five Grand Finals where it also won the P1.1 million cash prize.

Tims and skem were joined by fellow Filipino Jasper "Yopaj" Ferrer, Indonesians Brizio Adi "Hyde" Putra Budiana and Saieful "Fbz" Ilham and Malaysian coach Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung.

The team made quick work of Nigma Galaxy SEA and Motivate.Trust Gaming, both via 2-0 sweeps, to punch a Finals berth against Polaris.

Boom opened up the series with a convincing 24-13 victory with Tims dictating the tempo using his Enchantress as he finished with 14 assists against four deaths while Fbz had his way in the series opener with a 13-3-2 score line.

The team continued to roll in Game 2 although Polaris showed some life as it managed to hold its ground and extend the game to grueling 62-minute match. Tims, along with Yopaj and Mushi, who played stand in for Hyde, proved to be too much for the Filipinos.

Mushi unloaded 21-9-25 KDA on the Spectre while Yopaj was equally impressive with a 25-9-12 showing on his Snapfire

John Anthony "Natsumi-" Vargas tried to carry the load for Polaris with a 22-10-8 score line on his Morphling but was not enough as his team got clobbered 64-42 in the second game.

Fbz and Yopaj then provided the knockout punches in the title clinching Game 3. Yopaj on his Ember Spirit did most of the damage, finishing with a 12-5-10 KDA while Fbz contributed a 9-4-23 stat line. Boom closed out the series with a 37-23 victory to win the title.

The dominant showing in BTS Pro Series was a welcome sight for Boom Esports as it prepares for the upcoming DPC season rumored to start before the year ends.
