Davao del Sur PNP Task Group 'Dinoy' identifies one of the suspects in killing journo
DAVAO CITY - The local police in Davao del Sur have already identified the suspect in the killing of media journalist Orlando "Dondon" Dinoy who was killed last October 30.
"So far, may witness na tayo na naka-identify and hopefully ma-file na ang kaso," Police Lt Col. Alan Verginiza of the Chief Provincial Community Affairs Development Unit of Davao del Sur told The Manila Bulletin in an interview on Saturday, Nov. 13.
Verginiza who is also the spokesperson of Special Investigation Task Group Dinoy (SITG-Dinoy) said their legal officer is just finalizing the requirements and assured that the case will be filed "as soon as possible."
Verginiza said there are two suspects but at present, only the gunman was identified.
The driver of the motorcycle is yet to be identified.
The police officer added that they were able to complete the enhanced computerized facial composite of the gunman last Wednesday, Nov. 10.
"Meron na tayong cartographic sketch. Nag-follow up din ang Provincial SOCO, meron tayong computerized facial composite at doon talaga na-identify ng witness dahil mas na-enhance yung mukha ng suspect last Wednesday (We already have a cartographic sketch. The Provincial SOCO also made a follow up and now we have a computerized facial composite last Wednesday that helped the witness in identifying the suspect because the facial features were enhanced)," he said.
Prior to his death, Dinoy was a reporter for online news platform Newsline Philippines and an anchor of Energy News FM in Digos City.
Verginiza said they are looking at two angles including the work and personal life of Dinoy. He said the cellphone of Dinoy is already with the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group for further investigation.
He also appealed to the public to coordinate with the PNP for any information that they can give to help resolve the case.
