Cloudy skies, scattered rains to prevail over parts of PH due to ITCZ, shear line

Cloudy skies and rain showers may prevail across several parts of the country, as rain-inducing weather systems continue to affect the eastern section of northern Luzon, Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.
In its weather bulletin on Monday, Nov. 15, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Sorsogon, Masbate, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Cloudy skies with rains may also prevail over Batanes and Cagayan due to the shear line or tail-end of frontal system.
The ITCZ is a region where winds coming from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, while the shear line is where the northeasterly and easterly winds merge.
Both weather systems form clouds causing rains.
PAGASA advised those affected by the ITCZ and shear line to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to the occurrence of moderate to, at times, heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the northeast monsoon or "amihan" and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA said severe thunderstorm activities may sometimes trigger flash floods or landslides.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area inside the country's area of responsibility as of Monday morning.
