Robredo gives advice on choosing next leader: 'Dahil mahal ka'

What qualities make a good president?

These qualities may be academic, professional, and moral excellence, but for Vice President Leni Robredo it is beyond that.

A good leader should love and care for the people.

Robredo, who is seeking the presidency, released a video reminding Filipinos to choose the right leaders in the 2022 elections.

“Ngayon, ano bang takot mo? Gutom? Walang trabaho? COVID? Pero bukas pa ang bukas. Panahon nang pumili muli (Right now, what is your fear? Hunger? Unemployment? COVID? There is still tomorrow. It’s time to choose again),” she said in a Facebook video on Sunday, Nov. 14.

“Ang dapat piliin, walang bahid ng korapsyon, ibibigay nang buong-buo ang dapat sa iyo. Dahil mahal ka. Ako si Leni Robredo. At araw-araw pinipili kita (The person you should pick is someone who is not tainted with corruption, the one who completely gives everything that should be yours. Because you’re loved. I’m Leni Robredo. And everyday I’m choosing you),” Robredo added.

The Vice President made the video a day before the deadline for the substitution of national candidates for the 2022 polls.

She was unbothered by all the drama that unfolded among President Duterte’s allies on Saturday, Nov. 13, that included his close aide, Senator Bong Go’s withdrawal from vice presidential race and instead sought the presidency via substitution.

Robredo told her supporters to “just chill” following this development and the alliance between former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. and presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who was declared the “adopted” vice presidential bet by Marcos.

Robredo and her running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan are striving to run a “People’s Campaign” anchored on inclusivity and expanding their ranks for the upcoming elections.
