All five were declared dead on arrival at two hospitals, the Adventist Medical Center and Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (GTLMH), where they were separately rushed.

Cauntungan said a total of eight houses where damaged during the landslide.

It was believed that several days of rain in that hilly area led to the loosening up of the soil and the eventual avalanche.
