Chiz Escudero is second most preferred senatorial candidate in latest SWS survey
Former Senator and incumbent Sorsogon Gov. Francis “Chiz” Escudero has ranked second most preferred senatorial candidate based on the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) survey.
The latest nationwide SWS survey, which was commissioned by Stratbase ADR Institute for Strategic and International Studies (ADRi), showed that Escudero was the No. 2 pick among 30 names listed by the pollster.
Raffy Tulfo, veteran broadcaster, ranked No. 1 in the said survey. The survey was conducted from Oct. 20 through Oct. 23.
Prior to this, Publicus Asia said the senator topped its Third Quarter PAHAYAG survey, with 60 percent of its respondents indicating that they would vote for him in next year’s elections.
Publicus polled 1,500 respondents from approximately 200,000 registered voters across the country after the deadline for filing of certificates of candidacy on October 8.
Escudero hadserved the Senate for two consecutive terms from 2007-2019 and is running in next year’s May national elections under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) of Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
The tandem of Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Sotto is supporting and endorsing Escudero’s bid for a fresh term in the Senate.
Escudero’s bid also got a boost from the team of Sen. Manny Pacquiao, another presidential candidate, and Buhay Party list Rep. Lito Atienza, Pacquiao’s running mate.
The opposition tandem of Vice President Leni Robredo and running mate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan also committed to support Escudero’s senatorial bid.
