Zendaya is the youngest-ever CFDA Fashion Icon Award winner

She joins superstars Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and Rihanna, who have all previously taken home the award

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) voted and chose Zendaya as this year’s Fashion Icon award winner last Nov. 10, 2021.

Proving that she deserved the prestigious award, the 25-year-old “Dune” star donned a midriff-baring bandeau top with a bubble-waist skirt in red silk faille. Alongside her on the red carpet of the event is the designer of the look, Vera Wang. Zendaya received the award from supermodel Iman, who is one of her fashion icons, including Cher, Diana Ross, and her grandmothers.

A history-making fashionista, Zendaya is the youngest-ever recipient of the awards. Past winners include music superstars Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and Rihanna, and supermodel Naomi Campbell.

“She has made such a tremendous impact on style, and she’s such a fan,” CFDA CEO Steven Kolb told The Hollywood Reporter. “She may be young, but she is an icon.”

“Last night was an absolute dream come true,” Zendaya said in a post. “Thank you to the CFDA. This moment meant the world to Law Roach (her stylist) and I .”

Also one of the winners of the “Oscars of Fashion” is Anya Taylor-Joy, who received the Face of the Year award. For the event, “The Queen’s Gambit” star wore a custom Violette moiré peplum jacket over a bustier cocktail dress by Oscar de la Renta.

“A huge thank you to the CFDA and Tom Ford for giving me the honor of being your first ‘Face of the Year,’ presented by the epic force that is my love, Cara Delevingne,” Anya said. “It was a truly extraordinary night and one I will treasure forever.”

“Every now and then a beauty comes along who transforms the way we think of beauty,” Tom Ford, designer and chairman of the CFDA, said. “Audrey Hepburn: total original. Uma Thurman: total original. Anya Taylor-Joy, you only need to look at her face and you know that she’s the face of the year.”
