Let's get physical: Seniors in Paranaque City get outdoor fitness equipment


The Paranaque Senior Citizens Affairs Association (SCAA) launched a project that will promote active lifestyle among senior citizens with the donation of outdoor fitness equipment.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the project aims to promote an active lifestyle and combat health risks among seniors by urging them to engage in physical but not too strenuous physical activities during the pandemic.

Olivarez said the SCAA asked the help of the Paranaque External and Home Affairs (PHOA) under Eva Nono in coordinating with different homeowners' associations in the city for the turnover of outdoor fitness equipment intended for the senior citizens.

Nono said they already turned over outdoor fitness equipment to two homeowners association – New Sun Valley Subdivision and Garcia Heights Subdivision.

She said the outdoor fitness equipment will also help boost socialization inside the community.

The head of PHOA said the city government initially purchased 10 sets of outdoor fitness equipment which will soon be turned over to other homeowners' associations.

Nono said the program is a continuing project of the city government and the SCAA that aims to provide all homeowners' associations in the city with outdoor fitness equipment.

She said the blessing and turnover of the gym equipment inGarcia Heights Subdivision was witnessed by Olivarez, SCAA president Pacita Maranan, and Rep. Eric Olivarez.
