Israel unveils electronic interception system targeting missiles, jets simultaneously

The Israeli state-run company Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) on Thursday unveiled an electronic warfare (EW) system that detects and disrupts multiple threats simultaneously.

The system, named Scorpius, can intercept missiles and fighter jets without launching missiles, but using electromagnetic beams, according to the IAI.

"This is the first system in the world capable of simultaneously targeting multiple threats, across frequencies and in different directions," the IAI said.

It is based on the active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology, enabling a new generation of EW capabilities, it added.

With the multi-beam capability, Scorpius can simultaneously scan the entire surrounding region for targets, and deploy narrowly focused beams to interfere with multiple threats across the electromagnetic spectrum.

The system can target a range of threats, including UAVs, ships, missiles, communication links, low probability of interception radars, and more.

It effectively disrupts the operation of their electromagnetic systems, including radar and electronic sensors, navigation, and data communications.

The IAI added that the system has an advanced receiver sensitivity and transmission power, allowing to detect multiple threats, of different kinds, from significantly increased distances, and to address each threat with a customized response.
