Ex-cop robs remittance center in QC, nabbed in Pampanga

A dismissed policeman who allegedly robbed a remittance center in Quezon City on Tuesday was arrested by members of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) in a hot pursuit operation in Apalit, Pampanga on Thursday, Nov.11.

QCPD Masambong Police Station (PS2) commander Lt. Col. Ritchie Claravall identified the suspect as former Patrolman Dennis Marucut, a dismissed cop formerly assigned to Police Regional Police 3, and a resident of San Juan, Apalit, Pampanga.

According to the report, a man wearing a PNP uniform on board a blue and gray Yamaha Aerox held up on Tuesday morning a remittance center at the corner of Roosevelt Ave. corner Del Monte Ave. In Brgy. Delmonte, Quezon City.

The suspect was identified by the tellers of the establishment through the picture provided by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and based on the description of the suspect from the CCTV cameras in the area.

A hot pursuit operation was immediately launched by the police, resulting in the suspect’s arrest along Mc Arthur Highway in Apalit, Pampanga at around 10:00 a.m. Thursday..

Marucut was identified as a former policeman through his PNP Identification card. He went on AWOL (Absent Without Official Leave) in 2020 prior to his dismissal from the service, the report said.

Recovered from the suspect were an orange Honda Beat motorcycle, a grenade, and a 9mm Llama pistol.

Marucut will be charged with robbery and for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, RA 9516 or Codifying The Laws On Illegal/Unlawful Possession, Manufacture, Dealing In, Acquisition Or Disposition Of Firearms, Ammunition Or Explosives before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
